The Mladoboleslavsko region forms the western border of the Bohemian Paradise - an area renowned for its cars, romantic landscape, varied culture and historical monuments. The area is famous for the so-called Mladá Boleslav Pisa - Michalovice Castle with its leaning tower, the unique Romance church of St. Nicholas in Vinec or the ancient ruins of Zvířetice Castle.
The centre of the area is the town of Mladá Boleslav, which archeological finds have shown lies on land inhabited as early as the Bronze Age. Mladá Boleslav was, is and will always be associated with the largest car manufacturer in the Czech Republic - Škoda Auto, a.s. However, it is worthwhile spending a good deal of time in the town, thanks to its other attractions such as Boleslavský Castle, the archeological playground in the Templ town palace, the Loreta - a copy of the Virgin Mary's Nazareth home, or the Jewish cemetery with the tomb of the famous Valdštejn (Wallenstein) financier, Jakub Bašev.
