The Sobotecko tourist area lies in the middle of the Bohemian Paradise. The symbol of the region and one of the icons of the entire Bohemian Paradise is the best preserved Gothic castle in the Czech Republic - Kost Castle. The Sobotecko area is unique in its examples of preserved folk architecture / - from the famous village of Vesec and the rare buildings in the town of Sobotka itself, right through to the Střehom timbered houses. Sobotecko is also a region of poets, the most famous of whom being Fráňa Šrámek.
The centre of the area is the town of Sobotka, with its unmistakable landmark of Humprecht, a circular hunting lodge. Today, many people associate the town with the Czech language and literature festival which takes place here - Šrámek’s Sobotka. Thanks to its many preserved examples of rare folk architecture, the centre of the town was declared a heritage conservation area. The most famous example is Šolc's timbered farmstead, the birthplace of the writer Václav Šolc.
